outlook 2007 crashes on exit

Every time I exit Outlook 2007, it wants to send error reports saying Outlook
closed unexpectedly. I have tried "file/exit" and just clicking red X, and
get the same results. Any ideas on this? I have searched this forum and not
found a similar problem.

I should clarify, the error is:

"Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience."

This is after I manually close Outlook by clicking "File/Exit".

Thank you!! It was the Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server Colleague Import
Add-in. Unchecked it and all is good now. THank you very much.

I started getting exactly this problem yesterday, after uninstalling
Kaspersky Internet Security Suite 7 (KIS7). It suggested and gave me the
option of disabling an MS add-in. I did this but the problem persists.

I've 'been' to the Trust Center but can't find any checkboxes to untick in
order to trial & error troubleshoot the problem. Where do I look?

Thanks.

Steve

Hi Steve, in the Trust Center, at the bottom, click "GO" for Manage COM
Add-ins. This will take you to the check boxes for the add-ins.

Strangely, my Outlook was running well for a few days, and then it started
crashing again on exit, so I have disabled all the com add-ins, but it is
still happening. I don't know what is different. I'm thinking of deleting
Avast to see, since there is an Add-in for Avast and maybe its causing the
problem.

Goodluck!

Donna,

Ooh, now that worked and my first pick (the server exchange one) has enabled
a crash free close-down! I'll see how it goes.

Many thanks for being so helpful and have a very Happy
Christmas/holiday/good time.

.....and then it happened again. All the ones it will allow me to disable are
disabled, so I reckon for me that Kaspersky's uninstall has introduced an
error. Interestingly that used a spam filter plug-in, so it may have mucked
something up.

I to have had this issue, even after completely uninstalling all versions of
office/outlook and installing a clean install of office 2007 enterprise sp1.
If i exit or right click on a message, i encounter a problem.

I have disabled all add-ons and turned on logging. This is the error I
receive in the event log when I try to right click on a message.

Faulting application outlook.exe, version 12.0.6212.1000, stamp 46e03e45,
faulting module outlookclient32.dll, version 5.1.0.52008, stamp 45f6e7bd,
debug? 0, fault address 0x00013200.

Here is the error I get when I try to exit.

Faulting application outlook.exe, version 12.0.6212.1000, stamp 46e03e45,
faulting module mapi32x.dll, version 6.5.6944.0, stamp 3edc4c40, debug? 0,
fault address 0x0002f397.

Have any of you found a fix or a reason for the crash?

Did you create a new mail profile? Uninstalling Outlook doesn't affect the
mail profile in the Registry and much of Outlook's behaviour is controlled
by the mail profile.

Brian,

I don't think your message was meant for me but I haven't created a new mail
profile. How do you do this and what will I lose?

Thanks.

Steve

I created a new profile but the same error's exist. Unfortunately, I believe
this is machine related because there are other machines running outlook 2007
without any problems. I would like to identify what the root of the problem
is because I can see this happening in the future to other people.

No, I was responding to EdH.

You won't lose any Outlook data such as your mail, contacts, calendar, and
so on. You will loose account settings (you'll have to redefine your
accounts), your autocompletion cache (that suggests names to you as you type
in a recipient field - it can be recovered, however), and some other what I
would call "incidentals".
