Outlook 2007 won't close properly

Very often, when I exit from Outlook 2007, I get an error message saying it
encountered a problem and had to close. But I had selected to close it. I get
the popup about sending a message to Microsoft. I've done that a few times
and get a note back saying Microsoft doesn't know what the problem is. Any
ideas how I can get it to close neatly when asked to without pretending it
crashed itself?

Open Outlook in safe mode:

Start > Run > outlook.exe /safe

See if you can then close Outlook properly. If you can, you have an Add In
or COM that is integrated with Outlook that inteferes with closing it down.
Likely suspects are synch software (for a handheld), FAX software, AV,
antispam, etc.

Open Outlook normally in that case and disable all of your Add Ins and COMs.
Add them back in one at a time, testing inbetween to find out which is the
culprit.

When you shut Outlook down and get the error message, do you see outlook.exe
still running in the processes still? In that case, Outlook has not properly
shut down. See above for the solutions.

If the above doesn't resolve anything for you, please advise. It could be
other problems instead.
