Outlook 2007 converts embedded photos in an email to a hyperlink

Every email I forward myself from work with embedded photos arrives with a
hyperlink instead of the photo. For example:
[cid:[email protected]]
This is a new computer with Vista Business 64. My previous computer had XP
pro, and Outlook 2007 never did this. Any ideas?

Yes - Norton Internet Security 2009....I guess I need to go in there and look
around.

So you think this is the only reason my photos are being blocked/converted?
No setting/option in Outlook could account for this?

Correct, there is no setting in outlook that controls it.

I'm curious - why do you feel scanning of incoming emails is unnecessary?

Because all it does it give you advanced warning - attachments are written
to the hard drive and as long as you use 'autoprotect', they will be scanned
before opening. Plus it is known to corrupt messages.

Interest....after removing the email scan from Norton IS, I sent myself an
email from work that continued to have its embedded photos coverted to a
hyperlink, and sure enough, they were again converted to hyperlinks.
However, a friend sent me an email today from his home with embedded pics,
and they arrived safely. Maybe the email server at work is doing this???
