is there a way that i can access the database that my contacts are stored in
so that i can edit multiple records at one time? are the contacts stored
somewhere in a .mdbx file?

Odd question. Whenever Outlook is open you have complete access to your data
file. What makes you think you don't? Outlook does not use an .mdbx file.
You must be confused with Outlook Express.

All outlook data is stored in the *.pst file
Outlook doesnt use mdbx files, these are used by outlook express, a
completely different program.
Only outlook can access a pst file, the Contacts are contained within the
pst file, as is your mail

Are you actually using Outlook?
