Outlook 2007 confused by profiles?

P

Peter Wall

I have two profiles configured. One is for my personal pop/smtp emails the
other is for accessing my work exchange server when connected through VPN.

If I start up Outlook using the first profile the normal send/receive doesn't
start; in fact Outlook goes into "Not responding" mode temporarily.

I used MS Net Monitor to see if I could work out what was happening and found
that Outlook was attempting to access my exchange server despite the fact
that it is only referred to in the other profile.

Any thoughts?

Cheers, Peter

My first thought is that I just don't see how this can happen. Do you have
the option enabled to prompt for the profile when Outlook starts?

Hello Brian,

I absolutely agree and I never experienced this with Outlook 2003.

Yes, I do get prompted to select the profile at startup.

Cheers, Peter.

Well, I've got pretty much the same setup at home (two profiles - one POP
and one Exchange, the latter for VPN use). I'll see what happens for me.

I look forward to hearing how you get on.

Do you have any add-ins that start with your computer, like Infuzer for example? It will start a stub of Outlook with the first profile it finds, and in your case, it sounds like the Exchange profile is the first it finds.

Hello Milly,

Specifically an Outlook add-in? The only thing I can think of is Norton IS
2007's Junk email tooling.

Cheers, Peter.

I'm afraid I can't duplicate your problem. I worked on it for a couple of
hours last night and my two profiles never interfered with each other.
Sorry.
