Outlook 2007 Attachments

I just upgraded from Outlook Express6 to Outlook 2007. When I send an E-mail
with an attachment, the recipient does not receive the attachment, but does
receive the E-mail.

What can I do to correct this?

Thanx

If your recipient is not using Outlook and your default format is Rich Text,
this could be the culprit. I'm not sure where this is in Outlook 2007 but in
earlier versions it's:
Tools > Options > Mail Format.

My default is HTML. I don't know what the recipients are using but I'd have
to guess at least on eof them is using Outlook

Do you have antivirus scanning your incoming and outgoing emails? You would
want to disable the email integration because this can interfere with
sending/receiving email.

If you look in Sent Items, is the attachment sent with the email? Perhaps
the attachment is removed at your recipient's end either by their mail
server, spam filter/junk filter, antivirus, etc.

Yes the attachment is in the Sent Mail box. And the people at the other end
got the attachments when I sent it through gmail, so the problem lies in
Outlook

That doesn't mean you're not sending Rich Text. You say you "upgraded" from
Outlook Express to Outlook (not an upgrade, by the way; they're separate
applications). That implies to me that you imported your contacts from OE
to Outlook. That importing process could have set the contacts to use Rich
Text by default. Open one of the contacts with which you're having
problems. Double-click the mail address. Examine the "Internet format"
drop-down at the bottom of the dialogue. If it says "Send Outlook RIch Text
format", that's your problem. Change it to "Let Outlook decide..." Do this
for each of your contacts.

Brian:

Yes I did import them, but all of them are set to "Let Outlook decide...." I
am really having a time with this. I appreciate the help.

And I meant to say that I changed applications more than upgraded.

Since Outlook appears to be configured correctly, and since the attachments
are in the Sent Items folder, I'd say you have an issue on the server end of
things. Something between you and your receipients appears to be stripping
the attachments. Do you have an external account with which you can test?
You can try sending one to the address I used to post this message and I'll
see if I get the attachment.

I received your message and there is no sign, even in the headers, that it
had an attachment. If you get an error as you described ("an object cannot
be found") there are some things to look at. First, what type of account?
I suspect POP/SMTP.

Try emptying the Outlook Secure Temp folder. I don't know this will help,
but it's possible. http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/securetemp.htm . I'd
also try a new mail profile and I'd try repairing the PST with SCANPST.

Brian:

Thanx again. All of my contacts are listed as being SMTP Internet types.
Would this be the problem? If so, what do I change them to?

That's not what I asked. I asked what type of account do you have
configured.
