Outlook 2007; ADD-INS

D

denmarfl

Why is it that when you install Outlook 2007 (Vista 32Bit) it installs with 7
or 8 ADD-INS (Trust Center\Add-Ins)....and when you run Outlook, 1 or more of
those ADD-INS eventually will prevent Outlook from Running Properly? When I
would shutdown Outlook I could still see it running in Task Mgr\Processes
List....I would use End Process. I would open Outlook, it would run, but
after closing it it would not run again. Checking Device Mgr, Outlook showed
it was running. I have installed Outlook 2007 several times, each time it
will run fine for a few days then suddenly it will open but will not run. If
I open Outlook AS ADMINISTRATOR and go to the Trust Center and disable
ADD-INS (except for Indexing)....Outlook runs fine thereafter with no
problems.

Microsoft designs Outlook with all these Add-Ins, but at least in my case
these Add-Ins eventually prevent Outlook from running. I am not alone here,
doing research, many users have reported this same issue, and, all have
corrected it by Disabling the Add-Ins.

Any opinions?

Which exact addins are those and disabling which exact addin solves your
issue?
The Microsoft addins work properly and properly together. Which 3rd party
addins do you have installed?

D

My Add-Ins List immediately after I installed Potlook 2007:
Business Contact Mgr for Outlook
Calendar Gadget for Windows Sideshow
Goggle Desktop Outlook ToolBar
Microsoft Exchange unified Messaging
Microsoft Office Shared Server Colleague Import Add-In
Microsoft VBA for Outlook Addin*
Outlook Backup Addin*
Send to Bluetooth*
Windows Search Email Indexer*

I assure you I have not added a thing, this is what I see in my COM Add-Ins
list right after I install Outlook 2007.

I only have 4 items in the list above CHECKED, they are the last four marked
with *

After unchecking the others, Outlook runs fine, always closes proplerly.
The problem I have is, I don't know what Functionality I may be losing given
I have unchecked 6 out of the total of 10 Add-Ins.

Business Contact Mgr for Outlook
If you aren't using Business contact manager, this is not needed. It's
installed if you install a version of Office that includes BCM.
Calendar Gadget for Windows Sideshow
This will cause problems closing outlook. It shows your appointments in the
Vista sidebar. I thought it was something users had to install.
Goggle Desktop Outlook ToolBar
This allows google desktop to search email. It prevents attachments from
opening. It was installed when you installed the google desktop search.
Microsoft Exchange unified Messaging
This is for exchange accounts. It's installed by default with outlook but
you don't need it unless you use exchange and UM.
Microsoft Office Shared Server Colleague Import Add-In
This is installed if you install certain versions of office. It's not needed
unless you use sharepoint and possibly not even then.
Microsoft VBA for Outlook Addin*
Needed if you use VBA.
Outlook Backup Addin*
This is installed as a separate download. Not really necessary and it can
cause issues. You can copy your PST yourself.
Send to Bluetooth*
Something you installed added this. if you sync with a bluetooth phone you
need this, otherwise disable it.
Windows Search Email Indexer*
Windows desktop search. Necessary in Outlook 2007 if you want to use instant
search.

Thanks; Seems as you have explained, none of these Add-Ins are absolutely
needed for Outlook to run its Service of sending, Receiving E-Mails and using
Calendar as a Reminder program. I am using a Dell PC and Microsoft Small
Business 2007 was purchased from Dell with the PC. So many of these Add-Ins
are being installed from Dell's Factory Hard Drive Image.

What is VBA? My guess is if I don't know what it is I most likely am
not\will not use the Add-ins\Service.

Unchecking the Add-Ins I did, I can run Outlook without any concern.

I think they use the same servers as this group, but I could be wrong. Try
logging out and removing the cookies for your passport and logging back in -
do not use the option to save the password. That often messes up passport
logins.

installed if you install a version of Office that includes BCM.

Calendar Gadget for Windows Sideshow
This will cause problems closing outlook. It shows your
appointments
in
the
Vista sidebar. I thought it was something users had to install.

Goggle Desktop Outlook ToolBar
This allows google desktop to search email. It prevents attachments
from
opening. It was installed when you installed the google desktop
search.

Microsoft Exchange unified Messaging
This is for exchange accounts. It's installed by default with
outlook
but
you don't need it unless you use exchange and UM.

Microsoft Office Shared Server Colleague Import Add-In
This is installed if you install certain versions of office. It's
not
needed
unless you use sharepoint and possibly not even then.

Microsoft VBA for Outlook Addin*
Needed if you use VBA.

Outlook Backup Addin*
This is installed as a separate download. Not really necessary and
it
can
cause issues. You can copy your PST yourself.

Send to Bluetooth*
Something you installed added this. if you sync with a bluetooth
phone
you
need this, otherwise disable it.

Windows Search Email Indexer*
Windows desktop search. Necessary in Outlook 2007 if you want to
use
instant
search.

My Add-Ins List immediately after I installed Potlook 2007:
Business Contact Mgr for Outlook
Calendar Gadget for Windows Sideshow
Goggle Desktop Outlook ToolBar
Microsoft Exchange unified Messaging
Microsoft Office Shared Server Colleague Import Add-In
Microsoft VBA for Outlook Addin*
Outlook Backup Addin*
Send to Bluetooth*
Windows Search Email Indexer*

I assure you I have not added a thing, this is what I see in my
COM
Add-Ins
list right after I install Outlook 2007.

I only have 4 items in the list above CHECKED, they are the last
four
marked
with *

After unchecking the others, Outlook runs fine, always closes
proplerly.
The problem I have is, I don't know what Functionality I may be
losing
given
I have unchecked 6 out of the total of 10 Add-Ins.

:

Which exact addins are those and disabling which exact addin
solves
your
issue?
The Microsoft addins work properly and properly together. Which
3rd
party
addins do you have installed?

-----

Why is it that when you install Outlook 2007 (Vista 32Bit) it
installs
with 7
or 8 ADD-INS (Trust Center\Add-Ins)....and when you run
Outlook,
1
or
more
of
those ADD-INS eventually will prevent Outlook from Running
Properly?
When
I
would shutdown Outlook I could still see it running in Task
Mgr\Processes
List....I would use End Process. I would open Outlook, it
would
run,
but
after closing it it would not run again. Checking Device Mgr,
Outlook
showed
it was running. I have installed Outlook 2007 several times,
each
time
it
will run fine for a few days then suddenly it will open but
will
not
run.
If
I open Outlook AS ADMINISTRATOR and go to the Trust Center and
disable
ADD-INS (except for Indexing)....Outlook runs fine thereafter
with
no
problems.

Microsoft designs Outlook with all these Add-Ins, but at least
in
my
case
these Add-Ins eventually prevent Outlook from running. I am
not
alone
here,
doing research, many users have reported this same issue, and,
all
have
corrected it by Disabling the Add-Ins.

Any opinions?
