Outlook 2003

My outlook 2003 was working just fine, then the send/receive button disappeared! I have tried deleting office, rebooting, and re-installing office 2003, but to no avail. When Outlook 2003 boots, you can see the button up top where it usually appears, but after a couple of seconds, it disappears. I am unable to send or receive messages. When I create a new message, everything works, but the "Send" button does not appear in the message as usual.

This may be dumb, but have you tried re-inserting the
button in Customize? Right-click on the toolbar, choose
Customize, choose Standard from the list on the left, and
scroll down on the right side until you find
Send/Receive. Then just drag the button back to the
toolbar.
