Outlook 2003 won't flush the outbox

Greetings,
I have outlook 2003 installed. The problem I am having is, that when I
compose an email and sent it,
it traps in the outbox. Send/Receive doesn't flush it and no errors are
generated.

If I go into the tools accounts and have it test the connection, it sends an
email out to my email account
and I get it back OK in my inbox. If I send an email to any address, I get
it hung in my outbox.

Outlook does not give me any errors about not communicating with the email
server.

Any ideas ?
