Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager SNAFU

C

Charles Mote

I just installed Outlook 2003 with Business Contact
Manager. My OS is Windows XP, and I'm running Office XP
in addition to Outlook 2003 only (I installed Outlook
2003 over 2002 or XP version). Business Contact Manager
will not allow me to autolink or manually link emails or
other items to my business accounts or contacts. When I
attempt to autolink, an error dialogues says: " An
unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your
application. Click continue and application will ignore
this error and attempt to continue". However, it crashes
every time. Attempts at manual linking say, "Unable to
link at this time. Try again later". What a typically
useless MS error message, eh? So, what do I do to fix
this?

Not ready for prime time. I uninstalled it... it was also very slow. Mine
came with Office 2003 SBE. I just could not stand spending all that time
waiting for the application to allow me to add a contact. I think half the
problem is the SQL Server that's part of BCM, half is it's just not
finished, and half is lousy documentation and, well, it's just not finished.
SNAFU is a good description.
