Outlook 2003 Truncating First Character of Subject Line when Sent

Recently, Outlook 2003 started truncationg the first character ot the subject
line when I send an email. I believe (but not sure) that it started after
the last "critical update". How do I correct the problem?

This problem has been tied to antivirus programs that scan incoming mail.

I use Norton Internet Security and Norton Systemworks. Is there a way to

The first thing to try is to disable them temporarily and see if the problem
goes away. If so, your next step is to complain to Symantec, because it
wouldn't be an Outlook problem.
