Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007

I'm posting this to both the Outlook and deployment groups because I'm
not sure where the problem lies.

I just did a test conversion of a XP machine running Office 2003 &
Outlook 2003 to Vista running Office 2003 and Outlook 2007. I am using
USMT 3.01 to transfer the data. Everything works great, except I
cannot select the Contacts folder as an available address book in
Outlook 2007. If I go into address books, I can see the OAB there, but
cannot remove it.

I tried the instructions here with no joy:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/197577/en-us

When I deleted the outlook profile and made a new one, it finally
worked, but this is really bad. I need to preserve the mail settings
as we have things such as mail signatures and PST files that the users
setup and I do not want this information erased...this is the whole
point of USMT after all.

Thanks,
Adam

Further update, if I remove the OAB in 2003 before doing the
conversion, it works succesfully in 2007. Is there a place I can bug
this?

It's already a known issue with Outlook 2007.

It's already a known issue with Outlook 2007.

That's terrific.

After playing around a bit with ProcMon, I found it was looking for a
value under HKU\<some_really_big_SID>\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0
\Outlook\DisableOutlookAB. I did a Google search on DisableOutlookAB
with nothing to be found. Being adventurous, I set the DWORD value to
1. I could then remove and readd the OAB. However, I still could not
select Contacts as an address book, so I removed this key and restarted
Outlook and viola, I could select Contacts as an address book!

Again, this is major pain and cannot be used for multiple PCs, but
perhaps someone will find this information useful.
