outlook 2003 spelling not checked

i am running outlook 2003 on xp but everytime i write a new msg, it doesnt
auto correct. i have got all the right stuff ticked under the spelling tab
but i dont get any red\green lines under mis-spelt words and words such as
'teh' will do not auto correct!
i am serviced packed up according to windows update-any ideas?

I believe that you must use Word 2003 as your e-mail
editor. Then Help returns this:
From the main Microsoft Outlook window, on the Tools menu,
click Options, and then click the Spelling tab.

Select the Always check spelling before sending check box.

Note Any words you add during a spelling check are placed
in the custom dictionary, called Custom.dic.
