Outlook 2003 - Slow Opening Attachments

Hi

I have a frustrating problem with Outlook 2003 that it seems many people
have had in the past. Outlook is very slow opening attachments. I have tried
all the normal suggestions:

I do not have Norton - I use Kaspersky - I have turned it off in the add ons
menu. I have disabled it completely - no change.

I have re-installed Outlook. In fact I re-installed Office.

Also I do not have iTunes installed.

I have emtied the temp folder. I have emptied the Outlook Secure Temp Folder.

I have uninstalled 2007 compatibility add on.

It is a POP3 account and I have SP3 installed.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Does the size of the attachment make a difference? Do you download the
entire message during a send/receive or only the headers?

It doesn't matter what size the attachment is... however I forgot to mention
that this only seems to happen with word or excel attachments; PDF's are fine.

The whole message is downloaded on send/receive as far as I am aware (not
sure how to check!)

Also - whilst playing around with this I have just noticed that hyperlinks
that open in internet explorer are delayed in opening too. I guess that
suggests some form of problem with Outlook and Office or the way it opens
office files?
