Been having some trouble with my outlook. It takes over 3 min to load. Found
this guy having same problem. Tried everything he did too.

http://help.lockergnome.com/office/Outlook-2003-startup-delay-ftopict818707.html

also have tried all these suggestions:

http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/outlookdoesntstart.htm
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;262530
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;291650

When you start outlook and have task manager on. The outlook process is
using 00 cpu time the entire 3:31 seconds it takes to start. Then uses some
to finish getting started. No other service is using cpu it's all in system
idle (99). The applicaton window shows it (outlook) as being "not reponding".
Anyone have a idea?

what type of account do you use?

Is outlook closing properly - if not, it may be doing a detect and repair.

using standard pop/smtp account through earthlink. It will close fine once it
starts.

yes it disappears from the task manager. it does like to leave the icon in
system tray, but that disappears as soon as the cursor goes over it.
