This message appears seemingly randomly and when it does, the computer slows
to a crawl. It took me like 5 minutes to get to the task manager to see that
a process called SERVER was taking up 99% processor utilization. I haven't
waited it out to see how long that darn thing takes, but always have to
physically turn off the PC and restart it.

This profile has a hotmail account on it too, so could that have anything to
do with it?

Has anyone had similiar problems and if so, how did you fix them?

The few times I have seen this problem it was an email virus scanner or spam killer application not playing nice with anyone else. If you have either a SPAM killer type app or an email virus scanner, disable that functionality and try again.
