Hello all,

One of my users outlook 2003 ost file will not exceed 2GB. On my exchange
2003 server I have his limit set to 2.5GB but he always get warned before he
reaches the 2GB mark to clean up his mailbox.

How can I fix this?

Thanks,
Eddie

There are registry settings that can control the size of the OST. Have you
checked them? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832925

Sounds like this mail profile has been set up with an ANSI ost-file instead
of a UNICODE pst-file.
Check your policies to make sure you have not set any options to force the
ANSI format since UNICODE is the default when connecting to Exchange 2003.

Once all policies have been set correctly, you can remove the ost-file when
Outlook is closed. When you then start Outlook again, a new ost-file will be
created in the UNICODE format.

This may be an obviously silly question, but is the option to send a warning
checked off in Exchange? You mentioned that his limit is set, but what about
the other two options - send warning and prohibit send, etc?

Not so silly at all and I think you got it right ;-)
Apparently this error is not coming from Outlook at all and probably doesn't
even mention the anything about the ost-file. You're probably right that
this message is an emailed warning from the Exchange server notifying the
user that he/she is reaching his/her mailbox limit.
