Outlook 2003 on Windows 2000 OS

Receiving the following message after installing Outlook 2003 --- "The
connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be
online or connected to complete this action.". I'm at wits end.

1) I can ping the Exchange Server without issue
2) I've reviewed article 325930 from MS - RPC settings - but need you to
confirm what should they be for Windows 2000 OS - I've reviewed with your
notes and don't see obvious issues.
3) Repair outlook not an issue - same message always

Basically, the exchange server doesn't appear to be recognized. I'm not
sure why - any suggestions as towards what I can do to fix this / or where I
can look for solution.

Kind regards for any assistance ASAP

RPC over HTTPS is not supported on Windows 2000.

I'm only questioning this since I'm quite certain our staff had this working
for another employee who had a profile setup on the workstation in past.
That employee has since been reasssigned to another task - but he was able to
use MS Outlook 2003 on the 2000 OS - and the notes in the document indicate
this should work for MS 2000 platform too.

Any other suggestions by anyone. I'm not sure why it's not working for new
users added to system?

how is the account configured? Is this computer inside the network or
outside?
