I have an Outlook 2003 client on an XP laptop that has stopped sending email.
It recieves email just fine, but will not send. When you send a message it
goes through the outbox and then shows up in sent messages but never gets
delivered to either the Exchange 2003 server or the intended mailbox. In
fact, the Exchange server never has any record of it. I started logging and
the logs on the problem machine are identical to a client that does send
mail. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling outlook on this
machine. I also configured that user's mailbox on another machine and it
sends just fine so it has to be a problem with that particular machine. Any
help would be appreciated!

If the Exchange server is never receiving the message, then you'll
definitely be focusing on the client.

- Do you have antivirus software? Disable the mail integration and see if
that takes care of it. By default this software will can all outgoing mail.
Outlook is unaware of this activity, so it's possible the AV software
accepted the message in order to scan it and never passed it on to the
Exchange server.

- Can you send mail under a different mail profile?

I have already tried disabling the virus email scanner. It's looking like we
have two corrupted accounts. The account in question is sending emails
through another account.
