Outlook 2003 Navigation Pane is awful.

I recently upgraded from Outlook 2000 to 2003. While I find the most of the
product to be a reasonable upgrade, I really don't understand how the new
Navigation Pane improves the GUI. Like most people that I work with, I had
an Outlook Bar shortcuts pane setup to access my favorite folders, and used
the Folder List to access the rest. If I ever needed more screen real
estate, I'd hide the folder list as needed.

I took some time to setup the 2003 Favorite Folders first, but at the
resolution I work at, the icons are way too small. Also, switching between
Mail, Calendars, and Contacts isn't that easy.

Next I tried to setup the Short Cuts. Again the Icons are too small for my
taste.

The only reason I can think of for using the Navigation Pane in Outlook 2003
is to provide room for the Reading Pane. Nice idea, but I miss the old
Outlook Bar a lot more than getting the new right-side Reading Pane.

The bottom line is I'm seriously thinking of going back to Outlook 2000
based solely on the Navigation Pane. The bigger problem for Microsoft is
that I know of four other employees that have already punted and gone back to
Outlook 2000. Maybe I'll just try and hold out until Outlook 2005, and hope
they go Retro...
