Outlook 2003 issues

T

Todd

I recently purchased new machine w/ XP Pro and Office 2003 Pro. Prior to
that I was using Office 2000 without any problems.

Outlook 2003 has an account on my internal Exchange 5.5 server as well as an
external SMTP/POP3 server (VPOP3). The SMTP/POP3 server is the server I use
for Internet mail.

The sporadic problems I am having thus far include;

- multiple copies of the same message being received and not removed from
the SMTP/POP3 server. Sometimes 17 copies of the same message will appear in
the Inbox, other times, only a single copy may arrive, other times, there
may be 4 copies, etc., etc.

- multiple copies of an outbound email with an attachment being delivered
multiple times to the same recipient. In this case, the outbound message
never moves from the "Outbox" to the "Sent Items" folder and must be
manually deleted so that it does not get sent multiple times.

- Email that I can see on the SMTP/POP3 server via a web interface waiting
to be picked up, never appear in Outlook but are removed from the server.

I've never experienced these issues before with Outlook 2000 and I'm certain
they are not a result of the SMTP/POP3 server.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

TIA.

Todd.

I also recently installed 2003 Server Small Business and cannot receive e-mails. I also have tested via webmail and verified that MOST OF THE TIME I cannot receive e-mails, however I have received test e-mails I have sent from web mail to my Outlook. It appears as though Exchange is pulling my e-mails off of the pop3 server yet I do not receive them.

Since it sounds like we are experiencing the same issue, let's share any answers we find.

Thanks,

Bill
