Outlook 2003 Internet mail prompting password

B

Bala

I am using outlook 2003 to connect to Windows 2003 POP
mail server. Using outlook on the same windows 2003
server machine. When I login as administrator and launch
outlook to connect to a pop mail box it prompts for
password even then remember password box checked. After
some time if I click send/receive it prompts for
password. For a test I logged-in as different user and
configure outlook to connect to the same mail box it works
fine. It doesn't prompt for password since remember
password is checked. I removed the administrator user
profile and re-login doesn't fix the problem

Thanks,

Bala.

I am having the same problem. When logged in as
administrator the pop mail locks up and you have to close
outlook and restart outlook to get mail. Not sure how to
fix this problem but there must be a way. Please let me
know if you get a fix and I will do the same. The mail
will run for about 5 minutes then it shows errors when
you send and receive only on one of the five pop mail
accounts that I have. I also have a exchange server
account set up too in the accounts but the main pop mail
account is the only one that causes problems. Any help
is appreciated.

Hi - I just posted a similar issue, except that mine is
keeping other users in my house from getting email at all -
any news on this topic? Thanks.
************************
I just got a new Dell computer - running Windows XP and
Microsoft Outlook 2003. I have 3 user profiles set up on
Windows - one for each member of my family. Thus I set up
3 email accounts - each one with its own email profile
using our ISP: ameritech.net. I am using a DSL
connection I got from Ameritech.
My own email account works fine - it connects and sends
and receives. However - for the other 2 email accounts, no
matter how I configure them I cannot get it to
send/receive - I get a dialogue box that prompts for a
network ID and password.
I have no network set up, and there is no password or lack
thereof that it will seem to accept. So neither of the
other 2 Outlook accounts set up on this computer will send
or recieve becasue they are blocked by this inane message.
I have found that people are having similar but no
identiacal problems
(see
http://www.newmediamusings.com/blog/2003/02/outlooks_demand
..html,
and Microsoft's own
http://office.microsoft.com/assistance/preview.aspx?
AssetID=HA011142741033&CTT=4&Origin=CH010422611033
and http://support.microsoft.com/?id=290684

These describe more of a situation where a password is not
retained and/or there really are duplicate accouts set up
on one machine - however my problem is that there never
was a password, and the accouts are not duplicates.

I have contacted Ameritech and they had me delete and add
the email acccounts (which I had already done before I
even called them - duh,and then they told me the problem
was with Outlook and that only Microsoft could help. But
I am not finding any help at Microsoft!!
