Outlook 2003 Global Address List

Hi,

I have a couple of issues with the Outlook 2003 Global Address List:

Firstly, the list appears not to be 'Global' as it appears to be different
on some PCs to that listed in Exchange 2003 on the server. It may or may not
be part of the same problem, but there doesn't seem to be any roll-out of
changes either.

Secondly, I've managed to add one new user to an 'all users' mailgroup, but
unlike previous occasions, I haven't been able to add this user to the
Exchange 2003 Address List.

Please help! Thankyou very much.

Is Outlook 2003 configured for cached mode? The reason that I ask is that
if it is, Outlook 2003 primarily uses the offline address book. This book
is downloaded once every 24 hours by Outlook. While one can download the
offline address book more often, steps must be taken at the Exchange server
to rebuild this address book more often that its default of once a day at
4AM. (or better stated, users notice that it takes 24 - 48 hours to see a
new entry in the Global Address List.)

Thanks for the reply.

How do I find out if Outlook 2003 is configured for cached mode? This might
explain the differences between local and remote address books, but as the
last addition to the Exchange Address Book was made on 25th January, I'm
surprised it hasn't rippled through by now.

File>Cached Exchange Mode. Something should be checked (like Download Full
Items) if cached mode is enabled. You can also click Tools>E-mail
Accounts>Next, select the Exchange account, click Change and see if the "Use
Cached Exchange Mode" box is checked.

I've looked, and the Cached Exchange Mode setting is unchecked. Given that
Outlook 2003 is set up like this on my PC, they'll all be like that. Is that
why changes aren't being replicated?
