Outlook 2003: Follow Up menu is always disabled! cannot flag messages.

Hi,
I have a strange problem but first of all this is my setting: I have a PC
:O running Windows XP Professional SP1. I am using Office 2003 SP1. My
default mail client is Outlook 2003 (and not Outlook Express!). With it I
have my Hotmail accounts (HTTP service) which I read with OL2003. My Inbox
is in Table View.

Now the problem.... at least some months ago (at least before Office SP1 was
applied) I was able to flag messages for follow up. I still have some of
those messages with a red flag in the For Follow Up favorites.

Unfortunately now it is totally impossible to flag messages for follow up,
and therefore impossible to assign them any of the colored flags. When I
select a message and then use the Actions menu in the main menu bar, I see
that the "Follow Up ->" menu item is greyed out (disabled)!!! I also have a
special menu bar (you can create it with OL) that has only the flags. This
one is also greyed out.

Even more odd is the fact that while the flags remain greyed out/disabled at
all the times they would have been useful, when I select the toolbar's
"Customize" option, a Customize dialog appears (has Toolbars, Commands &
Options tab). Only at this time the flags and the "Follow Up" menus become
enabled (and therefore in their original colors: red, blue, yellow, green,
purple). Only thing is.... while this dialog is on it is IMPOSSIBLE to flag
any message!!!!. When the dialog disappears (i.e. when you should be able to
flag messages) the flags become greyed out/disabled AGAIN. Looks to me like
the functionaly is inverted.

Can anybody help me get my flags back?

You can't flag HTTP messages. If you move a flagged message to the http
store, it uses the old flag format. The MSN Connector that comes with MSN
premium does all flagging.

Thanks for the info, at least now I know my installation is not damaged. I
suppose my messages were flagged up from an non-http folder I was using when
doing the hand-migration from outlook express in my old machine to outlook
in the new (unfortunately OL did not make my migration easy).

Thanks!
Emil
