Outlook 2003 error

I am troubleshooting an error we receive when trying to open an archive
folder running outlook v2003 sp1. The outlook program wants to restart and
shuts down each time we attempt. We have run the detect and repair several
times. The clients are usng exchange v2000 running on windows 2000 server sp4
for email. Has anyone had a similiar issue?
 
It's a long shot but have you run ScanPST.EXE on the archive PST file?
