Hello,

I have some users that report that when they double click to open an email
in outlook, the email opens behind outlook and they have to click it on the
taskbar to read it.

It is intermittant, and everytime I stop by to take a look it is not
happening to them.

What may cause this?

Thanks!

Hi Mark,

Perform the steps to see if it works.

#1
=======
I strongly suspect that the issue is related to the Outlook addins. Follow the steps below to delete the addins and then keep testing the issue.

1. Close Outlook. Run regedit to open the Registry Editor.
2. Locate the following registry key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\
3. Right click it and choose Export to backup it as a file OLaddin1.reg on the desktop.
4. Delete all the sub-keys under the above key - Addins.
5. Repeat the step 2-4 for the following registry key.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\

And then let the user to monitor the issue. What is the result? If the issue recurs, go to next step.

#2 In Outlook 2003, click Help > Detect and Repair to repair the Outlook installation.

#3 Keep running under Outlook safe mode to test the issue
============
Under Outlook safe mode, it will not load the 3rd party addins, Outlook cache files, personal settings and etc. Thus, we may narrow down the
issue.

1. Exit Outlook.
2. Click Start > Run > type outlook /safe, click OK.
3. Keep running under Outlook safe mode to see if the issue recurs.

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.
