Outlook 2003 email icons don't indicate replies or forwards

After I reply to or forward an email, my envelope icon does not add a blue or
purple arrow to indicate the message has been forwarded or replied to. I have
Outlook 2003, and I use an HTTPAccount (hotmail) and an IMAP/SMTP server
account (college email -- uga.edu). Both accounts have this problem in which
the envelope icons do not change to indicate forwards or replies.

Neither Hotmail nor IMAP accounts can display that information.
