Outlook 2003 Crashing Repeatidly

I am migrating from GroupWise 6 to Outlook 2003 on a Wins XP sp2 box. The
client is constantly crashing. The GW client was completely removed. The
Office suite was uninstalled and re-installed, including all updates. Tried
renaming the mapi32.dll file and running fixmapi to no avail. System log
indicates the following errors:

Source: Microsoft Office 11
Category: None

Description: Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.8010.0, stamp
43d16d53, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, stamp 00000000, debug? 0,
fault address 0x08da3676.

Description: Hanging application OUTLOOK.EXE, version 11.0.8010.0, hang
module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.

The first two errors listed above happen ALL the time. The third error I
have seen once in this set of errors. The crash occurrs when any of the
following are being done:

Send/Receive (will hang at 50% or 72%)
Opening an e-mail
Switching from Mail to Contacts
Creating an E-mail
Adding addresses to email

I have tried ruinning in Safe mode with the same results--no change in
behavior. The client PC is connecting to an external Exchange server. There
are no problems with mail if using the Outlook Web Mail client.

No bites on this one yet, eh?

Found out a little more on this. If a log onto the same PC under a
different user account and set up Outlook to attach to the same mailbox as
the problematic Outlook account, the application seems to function okay. It
did hang on sync'ing the folders, but it never crashed.

This modifies the original question. Other than Documents and
Settings\Local Settings\Applications\Microsoft\Outlook, is there something
else within the profile that can be modified to potentially correct the
crashing issue?

Anyone? Comments woudl be greatly appreciated!

I too also have a workstation that gets this error on a regular basis.
Workstation is Dell GX280, XP sp2, Office Pro 2003 sp2 (List of installed
3rd party programs; LinkedIn 2.0.0.1296 and Lookout 1.3.0.24057). It has
also been noticed that links opened from email open very slowly in IE. This
pc had the exact same OS/software load previously with out issues, this only
started after rebuilding the workstation. As a test I have logged into the
workstation with other accounts which do not suffer from the same Outlook
crash. This made me believe this was a possible profile issue so I removed
all profile information from the effected workstation. After logging the
user in we found the same symptoms were still present. Any ideas? Need more
information just ask.

Thanks,

CptWeasel,

I've fixed my issue in a Dell E1505, by removing the McAfee spamkiller.
Outlook now does not crash anymore.
So the addins can actually generate this error.

SAPguru,

Thanks for the info, I have been working my way through this issue and well
all roads lead to 3rd party apps. Although I still have not been able to
nail it down 100%.

Thanks again,

As a follow up to my original post, the client would crash even in safe mode.
Another user had the same problem. I found that the two PC's had a common
applications called SnagIt.

I removed SnagIt from one PC--works fine now.
I updated SnagIt on the other PC--works fine now.

The lesson here is to look at all applications on a system as a possible
conflict--even ones you would normally discount at first!
