Outlook 2003 crashes when a rule is created

Outlook started crashing yesterday - I finally pinned it down to my
rules. Once I wiped them all out Outlook started working fine. I
really like the rules moving my Email into the correct folders though
and would like to get them working again.

The error I get is:

Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.8010.0, stamp 43d16d53,
faulting module outllib.dll, version 11.0.8010.0, stamp 43d16cd2,
debug? 0

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

If you are not using Exchange, Outlook 2003 rules are stored within the .pst
file.

I would focus on:
1) repairing or replacing the .pst file
a) scanpst.exe or
b) creating a new .pst and moving content to the new .pst, point the
default mail location to the new one and delete the old one.
2) reinstall Outlook and service pack 2.

I didn't realize they were in the PST... I have already done a reinstall.
Now I have tried scanpst, but it didn't work though. I will create a new PST
- if that works, my thanks, and you won't hear from me again. If it
doesn't... I'll be back :)

No joy... I created a new PST file (Outlook 2003 format) moved a couple of
folders into it, then decided I should really test things before doing any
more. I closed Outlook, pointed it to the new PST for default delivery,
renamed the old PST just to be sure it wouldn't get hit by accident, then
opened Outlook. The folders I had copied were there as expected. I went to
create a rule, the rule dialog opened, I clicked on Create New, and Outlook
crashed.

Any other thoughts?
