Outlook 2003 Crashing on Open PST

I transferred some PST files from another machine to mine. When I try to
open them with Outlook 2003 it crashes saying an error has been encountered.
I've tried repairing the PST's with SCANPST.EXE but the same thing happens.
My previous machine was running Office 2000 on an NT platform. Is there
something about the PST's that's causing this issue, or do I need to fix
Outlook 2003?

Then its likely that the problem is with whatever method you used to
transfer the files, or possibly on the media they are stored on.

Depending on the method used for the transfer, the PST file may have
become read-only. In this case, clear the read-only attribute.
