Outlook 2003 Contacts Transfer to Outlook 2007

I just purchased a new HP Media center PC with Vista Home Premium. The older
PC is a Dell with XP home and Outlook 2003 - on which I have ~ 150 contacts.
How do I transfer these 150 contacts to the new PC with Outlook 2007?

From OL 2003, File>Export>to file>.pst file. You can choose to only
export the Contacts if you like.
From OL 2007, File>Import>from file - navigate to your saved .pst file.

For more details, look in OL's Help for "import Contacts".

Since I do not have a cable hook up from the PC with OL 2003 to the PC with
OL 2007 - can the created .pst file be placed on a CD then moved to the new
PC ??

Yes, or put it on a usb flash drive if it is small enough (or the flash
drive is big enough. Then copy the file to a good place on the local
hard drive before importing it. I don't know if that last bit is
necessary, but that's the way I do it just in case it is. ;-)

Never import a native Outlook data file. Use File->Open->Outlook Data file.
Ensure that the file you copied is intact. If it does not open, make a copy
and then run scanpst.exe against the file. If it reports errors, continue
to run scanpst until it reports no more errors.

If it reports that it has found errors that it cannot repair, your .pst file
is corrupt, possibly from how you exported/copied the file.

If you still have access to the original .pst file, simply copy the file,
paste in My Documents (to ensure it has a better chance of backup than
elsewhere) and then open it in Outlook using File->Open->outlook data file.

|| Sorry to ask the same question again but I have the same problem. A
|| year ago, I had to replace a noisey HD and followed the proceedure
|| above and
|| it worked (outlook 2003 to outlook 2003). I just bought a new system
|| and installed Office 2007. To make things easier, I exported the
|| backup.pst file to c:\backup.pst. I then copied it to a flash drive
|| and then copied it onto the new system at c:\backup.pst. When I try
|| to
|| import the .pst file I get a message that I do not have permission.
|| "File access is denied. You do not have the permission required to
|| access the file c:\backup.pst" ?????
