Outlook 2003 contacts disappered

So here is my scenario. I have a friend who uses Outlook 2003 with his POP email. He had multiple contact lists. I took his Outlook "contacts" list and hit Ctrl + A to select all items, I then dragged those to a newly created folder called "archive contacts". Now all of the contacts are gone, they are in neither the original folder "contacts" or the new one I created "archive contacts". Anyway I can find his 2000+ contacts? Or am I screwed?

Hard to say at this level of information.
Got any error messages?
Does either folder indicate that there should be items in either the Status
Bar or Folder Size?
Note that when you make backups, you're never scr*wed.

No error messages, nothing is in the deleted items, its quite odd. And yes I know about backups, it was late and I was tired and just trying to do something really quick so I could get out the door. It moved all the contacts like into one contact field. Once I closed that looks to be gone.
