Outlook 2003 can't connect to Exchange or POP3 in a Domain 2003

Hello everybody,

We have a Windows Domain (SBS on Windows 2003) and a few Windows XP
clients. Exchange 2003 is running on the domain controller (same 2003
box). All clients have Office 2003. I added 2 users in the domain, their
mailbox was created and they can access it perfectly through web access.
The problem is that they can't connect to the exchange server through
Outlook. I mean, is seems like they do connect (no error messages and
the status bar says "Connected") but they can't send any mail. No error
messages here either, I hit "Send/Receive" and nothing happens. They
can't send - receive with SMTP/POP3 either, although when I try "Test
account Settings" every step is successful!!! The test message is
actually sent (we can see it through web access...). One of the machines
complains about some unregistered library (no, it doesn't say the
name...) as a script error when accessing Outlook's home page (the
exchange mailbox). I tried repair, reinstall and uninstall & install but
the problem persists... Any ideas? T.I.A. ...

For testing, try setting up an Outlook profile that has only the Exchange
mailbox in it, and don't use cached mode. Does it work?

What's the default account in the profile that has Exchange & POP in it?
Note that although OL2002/2003 handle multiple account types a lot better
than older versions, I still don't recommend mixing and matching. I'd have
all mail handled by the Exchange server alone.

Thanks for your time, I'll try that. The default account is the Exchange
one, but keep in mind that my own outlook setup has the Exchange account
(as default, again) and a POP3 which both work fine. Also, all accounts
have the Exchange mailbox as the only storage (for backup purposes). Any
ideas about the mailbox home page raising this script error? Where can I
find the code, since the error message informs me of the line that
causes the error?

Set up a mail profile for this user on another computer (or if you're using
roaming profiles, have them log into another computer) and see if it works
(home page/OL today). Also have someone who has a working Outlook log into
*this* computer to see if they get errors. This will help isolate the
problem.....

If you don't come to a resolution, could you turn on diagnostic logging (see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q300479) and post
the OPMLog.log file (preferably as an attachment) after you try a
send/receive with POP3? It will really only tell us about POP3/SMTP, but
that might be enough to figure out what's happening.

Well, I created a new profile (deleted the old one first) and only added
Exchange account. The same problems : An unregistered library on home
page and Outlook can't sent a thing... I tried my account on this PC and
it worked, but keep in mind I'm admin while the user with the problem is
a simple Domain User. I'll try to get her test her account on my PC ...
