Outlook 2003 cache mode no delivery.

Is anyone else getting this problem?
Outlook 2003 working in cache mode from a Exchange 2000 server. Messages
stop being delivered, messages are on the server but won't sync down to the
clients??
Found that if you disable cache mode they are there. the last unread message
is a spam message with attachment marked at urgent. You can't right click on
it (well there is not context menu) and you can't do anything except delete
from the tool bar.
running Ca etrust AV to block attachments and it works fine for other
messages.

Offending message from (e-mail address removed)

Thanks

Your ost-file probably got damaged by the message as well. Either run
scanost.exe against it or delete it and have Outlook resync with the
Exchange server.

I have deleted the ost and let it recreate but same issue.
I ran scanost but it found no error from memory. It did not solve the issue.
Only way to fix was to get rid of the message, the remaining new mail gets
delivered OK
This is happening on 3 client machines now, seems to be something to do with
the type of message or how the ETrust AV handles it. I don't want to disable
the AV as I still want to block other attachments that spammers send us.
the issue with right click happens if you view the mailbox from other
locations. i.e if I open the mailbox as a second mailbox on a client machine

cheers

Is blocking attachment types the only important function for you in ETrust?
Note that you can do this natively by using the E-mail Security Template
available in the Office Resource Kit. You can install this template on the
Exchange server.

OK I'll have a look.
E-trust has worked well for use for AV and blocking so we have stuck with
it.
