outlook 2003 backup tool not working

I have the backup tool installed in my Outlook 2003, and programmed to backup
the Personal Folder (outlook.pst) and the Archive Folder (archive.pst) every
day. However, these two .pst files are NEVER EVER backed-up automatically
when I close the program. I can only back them up manually (i.e.,
File/backup/save backup, then the backup takes place the next trime I close
the program.)

What might be going on?

The backup doesn't take place by looking at the date but if it has been more
than 24 hours since the last backup.

It is not backing up; not after 24 hours, not after one wek. It's simply as
if I hadn't downloaded the tool.

As I explained, the outlook.exe process stops when I close the software, so
this is not a problem with Outlook "hanging"... Any other ideas?

Thank you, Gilles, a most interesting add-in indeed. A few observations about
BackupMyFolder, though:

1. It's better to perform the backup with Outlook closed. If it is open, it
messes up the disposition of the "My Calendars" and "My Contacts" folders in
the navigation pane, adding folders that shouldn't be there.

2. If you perform the backup with Outlook closed, you need to make sure that
the folder being backed-up is not password-protected, otherwise the backup
will not take place.

3. Curiously, the download and installation of this add-in has produced the
side-effect of making Outlook's native backup tool work again, automatically,
according to its schedule (it's set up to backup the Personal Folders file
every day.) So now I have not one, but two ways of backing up my Outlook
data...

Again, Thanks.

Miguel
