Outlook 2003 Attomatically Aborts During or Just After Loading at WinXP Pro Startup

I have used Outlook for several years. I installed Office 2003 SE in August
on my Dell Inspiron 8100 notebook in August of 2004. Outlook 2003 is set to
load and minimize at Windows Startup. It worked fine until a day or so ago.

Now it starts loading during Windows Startup as evidenced by the Outlook
2003 pop-up boilerplate that appears when the Outlook 2003 program begins
loading. That boilerplate remains on the screen for awhile, then the
Outlook 2003 button appears on the Task Bar and an Outlook icon then appears
in Systray. Moments later, the Outlook 2003 button on the Task Bar and the
icon in Systray disappear, and Outlook 2003 acts as if a user had clicked
File Exit.

No error message of any sort appears in connection with this odd behavior.

Off-hand, I have no idea why Outlook 2003 would simply exit without a user
causing it to do so, One possibility that comes to mind makes me wonder if
the problem may have been caused by my recent installation of IncrediMail.
I tried it out and found it to have bugs. So, I uninstalled it using
IncrediMail's own uninstall procedure.

When I start Outlook 2003 manually by clicking on the desktop icon, it loads
and runs just fine. However, I wish it would do the same thing when it
loads during Windows Startup.

How can I get Outlook 2003 working properly again? I shall greatly
appreciate your help on this.

If you click the shortcut in the startup folder, does it load correctly? If
not, delete it and make a new shortcut.

Hi, Diane,

Thanks for your feedback! I sincerely appreciate it. Your suggestion
solved one problem. I deleted the shortcut (which was a Outlook 2002
shortcut that wasn't working properly) from the Startup folder, and placed a
new shortcut for Outlook 2003 in the Startup folder. That change got
Outlook 20003 to load properly in connection with Windows Startup. However,
when I right-click the new Outlook 2003 shortcut and select Properties, no
Properties dialogue pops up as I had expected. I would like to modify the
shortcut's Properties to load the program Minimized instead of Maximized.
The dialogue that pops up when I right-click on the Outlook 2003 shortcut is
a Mail Setup dialogue, which I clearly don't need. Outlook 2003 has been
sending & receiving e-mail successfully on this computer for over 4 months.

How can I get the shortcut to display its Property dialogue when I
right-click on the shortcut and select Properties?
