Outlook 2003 attachments

I recently (problem has begun in the last couple of weeks) have been unable
to open attachments in Outlook 2003. I am able to open the attachments if I
download them either to Outlook Express or Thunderbird. I tried re-installing
Outlook 2003 but have had no luck.

Hi Oliver,
The type of files I am trying to open are .eml files. I have previously been
able to open such files and can still open them using Thunderbird and Outlook
Express but just not with Outlook 2003. I had a look at the sites that you
suggested but did not find a solution. The .eml file does not seem to be one
of the file extensions automaticallly blocked by Outlook 2003. Any other
suggestions?

IIRC, Outlook has never been able to open EML files because they are Outlook
Express messages. It's no different than trying to open an MSG file with
Outlook Express.

Brian,
I have been able to open .eml files using Outlook 2003 until a couple of
weeks ago. People have sent such files on many occasions (they obviously use
Outlook Express to compose emails) and I have not had a problem accessing
them until recently. The only way I can open these files now is to use
Outlook Express but I can't understand why Outlook 2003 will not open files
that it once did.

Oliver,
Thanks for your suggestions. I did check out the links suggested and I tried
a few things but I have not have any success. I have decided, however, to
switch to using Thunderbird from now on for my email access....it works
perfectly! I do appreciate your efforts.
Dusty
