Outlook 2003 and VPN

I am using Outlook 2003 and VPN to connect to an Exchange 2000 Server. When
the user opens Outlook they get a message "Trying to connect to the Exchange
Server". This message happens about 90% of the time, but occasionally, the
user is able to connect and get their email. I have played a little bit with
MTU size on the network adapter, but I am not sure that does anything. Any
ideas?

I find that a lot of those are actually DNS issues. Make sure that your
DNS is solid, especially across the VPN link.
