Outlook 2003 and the Ofiice 2000 Office Assistant

Haven't seen this problem reported here before, but if it has, apologies in advance..

We're installing Outlook 2003 on machines that have (and will continue to have) Office 2000. In some cases, the install goes fine, but when users try to use Office 2000 applications (Word, etc.) they get an error message saying that their Office Assistant is broken

Any ideas on causes and/or solutions? Thanks!

Only one Office Assistant version can load a time. If you close Outlook 2003
and restart Word 2000 the Office Assistant should work again (it probably
gets reconfigured first)

So, is there a way (using the Custom Install Wizard or another tool) to prevent Outlook 2003 from installing it's Office Assistant? That would make it harder to get help for Outlook, but would prevent my users from seeing errors on a regular basis.
