Outlook 2003 and MS Word

When I open Outlook 2003, I'm noticing that in the "Windows Task Manager" an
'image name' WINWORD.EXE appears. Each time I open Outlook, another
WINWORD.EXE entry appears.
Is this situation normal when opening Outlook?
When I shut down my computer, it takes about 5 minutes. But if I 'end task'
in the "Window Task Manager" on all the 'WINWORD.EXE' entries, my computer
shuts down normally. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
 
'tis because you are using Word to compose/edit emails in Outlook.

Tools > Options > Mail Format if you want to change it.
