outlook 2002

hi
i have been using outlook 2002 as part of my office xp small business pack
for several years and today it just stopped working. It loads and then after
about 3 seconds it hangs and i get the "this programme is not
responding"message. I have done the repair in control panel and reinserted my
original disc which then tells me it is repaired but that made no difference,
i have tried loading the file name in commas in run: followed by /safe but
that just takes me to a window in office10 with a load of folders and files
in it.
the only suggestion i get from microsoft is that now 2002 is no longer
supported i should upgrade to 2007 at vast expense
any ideas anyone??

Hey there,

Try this.

Click START > RUN and type in outlook /safe

If this works fine, then we have a problem with some of your other programs
in the way they access outlook. Mostly the antivirus.

To get around this, go to Tools> options> Other>advanced options> Addin
manager ----- and uncheck all the options (usually unchecked in safe mode)

Also go to Tools> options> Other>advanced options> COM addins and remove all
here.

Try restarting outlook normally.

By the way Outlook 2002 is still supported by Microsoft. Only its a paid
support where you have to pay around 50 bucks for tech support.

Hi,

Please try a new profile.

For this close outlook. Go to Start > Control Panel > Mail > Show profiles >
Add

Give the name for the new profile and click cancel when it prompts for the
email configuration.

in the profile screen after creating a new one make sure you select Prompt
for a profile when opening outlook

See if you can go into this new profile.
This is similar to a new windows user account . This is meant for outlook .

Hi Arun,
i tried going back to the old profile but it just hangs again, so how do i
transfer all my old files and contact details to the new profile or is that
just going to produce the same problem?

Open the new profile, click Data Files, and add your existing PST. CLick
E-mail Accounts to add your mail accounts.

Use the Mail applet in Control Panel to open the mail profile you said you
created. Use the Data Files and E-mail Accounts buttons to add your
existing PST and accounts to that profile.
