Outlook 2002

I am using Outlook 2002 on a Windows XP PC (no exchange server) and I am
having trouble sending files with attachments (either single or multiple)
when the complete email size of the message is 2MB or more.
When I send an email of this size with attachments in the Outlook the
Send/Receive progress dialog box displays multiple lines of sending progress.
As each new line appears the percentage staus reduces.
I get multiple identical error messages "Sending and Receiving reported
error (0x80048002) This task was cancelled before it was completed"
Sometimes the email gets through and often the recipoent will receive
multiple copies of tha same email.
