Outlook 2002 (XP) - High Importance email causes three (3) loud beeps

Hi!

Does anyone have any ideas concerning what is going on?

I am running Win XP with Outlook 2002.
When I receive an email marked with High Importance, the
machine beeps (brays!) loudly and annoyingly three (3)
times.
I have looked thru Google, the KB, and all the MS Outlook
newsgroup posts for this issue, but I haven't been able
find anything out.

I even did a brute force and just looked for the .wav
file on my computer, but couldn't find it either!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FYI - I have already done all of the standard things
(turn off mail notification sound in Control Panel, etc.)

Thanks!

If you turned of the notification sound in Control Panel you must also
disable it in Outlook;
Tools-> Options-> tab Preferences-> button E-mail Options-> button Advanced
E-mail Options-> option Play a Sound

Also check whether you have a Wizard Rule created that could cause this.

Thanks for the tip, but both of those are set (turned
off) and it is still making the beep-beep-beep sound.

Any add-ins perhaps? See if it still happens when you start Outlook in safe
mode.

To do this;
Start-> Run-> "path to outlook.exe" /safe

Also try a repair of Office; Help-> Detect and Repair

Roady,

Thanks for the help. That's what it was (an add-in).
The Cisco Unity Viewmail add-in was causing the problem.

Just in case anyone else has the same problem:

1. Open Outlook.
2. Go to Tools -> Options.
3. Click on Viewmail Options.
4. Click on the second tab, Notification.
5. Uncheck "Play urgent sound notification."

Roady,
Thanks again for all the help!!!
