Outlook 2002: 'Unknown Error 0x8004060C'

I started getting this error yesterday: 'Unknown Error 0x8004060C'

A search revealed this: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=304863

It indicates that the .pst file is full.

I'd like to delete some messages, but I get an error when I try to delete
anything:
"The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem
persists, restart Outlook."

I have downloaded any available updates from MS, no change in status.

Any suggestions on how to proceed? Win2002

Thanks,
Greg

Try emptying the deleted items folder first. Then, if that doesn't work,
try archiving some of the older messages to break up the .pst file.

Hi Walter, thank you.

The "deleted items" folder is empty. So I proceeded to archiving, and that
returned an error "errors occurred in archiving. look for a detailed report
in your deleted items folder." I looked in "deleted items" and no such
report exists.

I'd simply delete some unneeded messages, but I still get the error that
prevents me from doing so. The .pst file is 1,924,744 kb

Next?

ok, as a followup - somehow I got the archive to run, and all is well again.

thank you

Happy it worked.

For the future, if you have so much email, I suggest you turn on automatic
archiving to prevent this from happening again.
