Outlook 2002 SP3

I am running OLK 2002 SP3 under WIN XP Pro SP2, w/ 512Mb RAM. When I launch
Outlook, the application banner appears and the rest of the launch slows to a
crawl. Using TASK Mgr, I discovered that Outlook is consuming nearly all RAM
and causing WIN XP to increase Virtual Memory on the hard drive. If you leave
Outlook alone for a couple of minutes, it will finally load if no other
applications are loaded. Outlook functionality is intact except that there is
no RAM left to do anything else. If I exit Outlook, the RAM is released or if
I use TASK Mgr to end the process while Outlook is still loading, the RAM is
released. I can start Outlook in SAFE mode with no problem and have complete
functionality, except my preference settings won't save.

I have removed just Outlook and re-installed it. I have removed the entire
Office suite and re-installed it. In each case, I removed all associated
files, including pre-fetch, and ran Registry Fix in between to remove any
vestige of the Outlook installation. None of this has helped.

Any advice would be gladly accepted, Sid

Can-so

from the run line in the start menu
type "outlook /safe" minus the quoates doe it open faster?
If so its a addin thats causing the issue.

How large is your pst file?
OL2002 and earlier support up to 2 gigs and most of the time it will crap
out before that size

When opening Outlook in safe mode, it opens at normal speed, very quickly,
and memory usage is normal. The add-in idea certainly makes sense, I'm just
not sure how to determine which add-in is the problem. Any guidance there?

Can-so

go to tools / option/ other/ and check moth addins buttons to see what's
enabled
and try deselecting them and try opening outlook
one of them must be the if that does not work it could be a corrupted addins
key in the registry.

Outlook doesn't show any addins to be in use. I'll check the Registry. Thx
