Outlook 2002 quits on switch to battery?

Running on a Vista HP laptop...

Since I set Outlook up to run "as administrator" (the only way I could get
it to cooperate properly with AVG antivirus for email scanning...) it has
taken to qutting when the laptop switches to battery power...

I don't understand it - and I can't fnd any way to stop it. It's very
annoying because under Vista the absence of appropriate "Protected Storage"
for email account passwords means I have to re-enter them when it
restarts...and sometimes Outlook complains it didn't shut down properly and
spends an age checking the PST file for corruption when I restart it.

If anyone can help resolve this I'd be very grateful!

I was under the impression that any Outlook <2003 was not supported in
Vista.

You shouldn't be scanning mail. It's unnecessary and can lead to
miscommunication between Outlook and the mail server.

unplug the power supply?

Vista continues to run when you switch, correct? I've never seen an issue
when changing to battery power from wall power, but if it occurs, it could
be a Windows, networking, or PC issue and not an Outlook one. Describe what
happens in detail.

Quite correct John, the unsupport is the lack of Protected Storage I
referred to - though there may be other aspects to it... but apart from that
it works OK - except for the recent "quit on switch to battery" feature when
run "as admin"!

I could understand there might be a choice to turn off the wireless i/f on a
laptop on a switch to battery power (to extend operations; and I was only
wirelessly connected at the time), but why should Outlook choose to quit?
Not handling email doesn't turn off the transmitter!

(Note to self - must try unplugging the DC with wireless off)

Vista continues to run; there are no other apparent effects. Windows seemed
and seems to continue to be fine, ditto networking and PC...

Detail? Er... I unplugged from the wall so someone else could use the socket
in the cafe and noticed Outlook doing it's specified Send & Receive before
quitting... and Outlook quit.

Nothing in the event logs at the time of unplugging - Application or
System - relating to either unplugging or Outlook (it did not "stop
working"), or as far as I can tell network operations... which is puzzling

Puzzling to me as well. I've never had that happen. Perhaps someone else
