I have Outlook 2002 SP3 (10.6515.6626) on a Windows XP SP1 computer.
Originally I had Outlook 2002 (10.0.4024.0). It used to work fine but then
since last week I've started having this problem: it hangs while downloading
messages (usually after downloading 3 messages). The email server is
SMTP/POP3 based.
I updated my office xp (and outlook 2002) via the MS office update site. But
it didn't help. The problem remains.
After hanging, an event is reported in the System log of event viewer:
Category: (101) Event ID: 1002.
Description: Hanging Application OUTLOOK.EXE, version 10.0.6626.0, hang
module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000
It might be worth adding that this problem does not happen on Outlook 2000
SR-1 (9.0.0.5414 - (Internet mode only - Security Update)) on Windows 2000
SP4.
