Outlook 2002 hangs when it tries to open Word as my email editor.

I am using XP Home/SP2 all updates and Outlook 2002.
My system crashed this afternoon for no particular reason (possibly the
battery went dead). Ever since then I cannot write an email in Outlook.
Whether it's a new email or a reply, I get the error message "Opening Word as
email editor..." and it just sits there forever. I must kill it in task
manager. If I unselected Word as my email editor, it works. I have checked
the Outlook.pst file with scanpst.exe and it found and fixed minor errors. I
have run dskchk, no problems found. Word works fine when opened from the
desktop.

Any ideas? Please...

I have this same problem and it won't go away. I have had it before with
Outlook versions and HTML. But can't remember the soluction except to stop
using Word as your editor or HTML format.
