I have a system here that just had Outlook 2002 installed
on it. Previously it was using Outlook Express 6.0.
After installing Outlook 2002 I get an error message that
says "Unable to open default e-mail folder. The
information store could not be opened.". After clicking
OK it then says "Would you like to open default file
system instead?". If I click yes it opens Outlook and
displays the same thing My Computer displays. If I click
No it closes Outlook. Everything I have found online
searching around seems to relate to using MS Exchange
which this system is not. It is just a stand alone
system connected to a DSL provider. If anyone know what
I can try to fix this would be great! I have tried
uninstalling and reinstalling and installing the new
Outlook Service Packs but nothing worked.

Thanks
Derrick

You haven't properly configured a mail profile. Use the Mail applet in
Control Panel to do that.

Anytime this has happened to me it is always an
authentication problem. Might want to click on test
settings where you have entered your e-mail and password
on the email setup screen (don't have a machine configured
that way in from of me now so I can't walk you down the
road to the screen). If you can't find it let me know.
