I have a very strange problem with Outlook 2002 and I will
try to explain in detail what is going on and what I have
tried to correct the issue. I have Outlook connecting to
an Exchange server in a domain environment. I can have
Outlook sitting in any folder, Inbox, Sent Items, Public
Folders, whatever, and when I receive new email Outlook
does not pull that message in. I have it set to check for
messages every 60 seconds. The Inbox does not reflect I
have any new messages when I in-fact do. I can even
manually click the Send/Receive button and it will
complete 100% but my new email is not pulled into my Inbox.
What I have to do to get the email to show up in my Inbox
is manually click on another email I already have that is
not currently selected. My new email will pop in as soon
as I click. Or I can change folders from Inbox to any
other folder (Deleted Items, Sent Items, etc.) The email
will pop in then. This is only happening on my station.
Other people running Outlook 2002 are not having this
problem.
What I have done to try and address the issue: I have
upgraded Outlook to the latest service pack (SP3) and
installed all updates for Office. I am also running all
critical updates for the OS (WinXP Pro). I have performed
a repair on Office and I have performed a Detect and
Repair in Outlook. None of this helped. Then I went to
the extreme. I completely re-formatted the hard drive and
did a clean install of Win2K Pro with Office 2000.
Outlook 2000 worked CORRECTLY. I never had a problem with
it. So I re-formatted the hard disk again and this time
did a clean install of WinXP Pro and Office 2002. For
once Outlook worked fine, but for only three days. Then
it stopped bringing in my new email just like before.
I've tried a refresh in Outlook by pressing F5 just to see
if it was the screen just not refreshing but that just
invokes a manual Send/Receive, which doesn't bring the
email in either. I have applied all service packs and
updates after I put the clean install of XP on.
I'm out of ideas especially since nothing on the PC
changed those three days from when it worked and then
stopped. Any ideas even if it's a shot in the dark?
